The Jewish Men’s Retreat (JMR) celebrates its 18th year of bringing together a diverse, intergenerational group of men during the peak of foliage season in New England. The JMR gives us the opportunity to set aside the demands of our day-to-day lives and step into a unique “community of men” that honors caring, listening and celebration.
This year’s event, scheduled for the weekend when we read the wondrous tale of Noah, will consider what it means to be a righteous man in our generation. Just as Noah courageously stood apart from others of his time, so we, as men, face a similar challenge as we identify how to do the righteous thing in our day. We will consider how we can stay connected with our core values as Jewish men in this tumultuous world. We’ll explore how we can act on these values to maintain our personal integrity, further our relationships with our significant others, and heal the world that we will pass on to our next generation. These themes will be woven through an energetic weekend of spirited conversation, large and small group discussions, joyous worship services, text study and laughter. Over the years, many men have used the JMR to enrich their relationships with their fathers, sons, friends and congregants by inviting them to attend the retreat. We encourage you to spread the word about the JMR. Give yourself and others the gift of experiencing this truly unique weekend. |
